The result of an informal and witty design blended with a refined taste, is what makes the family of Smile living room poufs.
The designers Marconato & Zappa created a practical and manageable seat, whose small dimensions make the unit functional for the modern living room spaces. The frame, made entirely of ash wood in all the finishes of the collection, creates a smile-shaped handle – which gives the name to these poufs – and acts as a handle, as well as a backrest. The seat is obtained from the union of poplar plywood and elastic straps that increase the comfort. The cover is available in all the fabrics of the collection, to obtain a unique and personalised look.
Maurizio Marconato – 1961 and Terry Zappa – 1963 were both born in Como. They studied architecture at Politecnico di Milano University, where they graduated with honours in 1986. After few years of experience, in 1991 they founded Studio Marconato & Zappa Architetti Associati. They have worked in the design field since 1981, creating products for major home and office furniture companies, working together through all the steps of bringing a design to the market, from the main concept to the marketing, and supporting them with graphic, photography and creation of exhibition stands. Their collaboration with Porada has led to the creation of many sophisticated design products, including the wonderful Pilar table.
Porada
Everything ‘s born from the love of wood. The solid wood, worked with the craftsmanship of those who know how to turn a log into a piece of artwork. Porada has its origin in this passion. It was established in 1968 by Luigi Allievi with the aim of expanding the production of chairs, started in 1948.
The Porada collection is wide and varied, made up of a multitude of occasional furniture developed in cooperation with designers as Marconato and Zappa, Carlo Ballabio, David Dolcini, Emmanuel Gallina, Patrick Jouin, Tarcisio Colzani, Staffan Tollgard, Studio Opera, Gino Carollo, Dainelli Sudio and Studio Buratti among the others.
